I was recently asked to be a guest appraiser on the nationally syndicated radio show “Value This with Leon and Brian”. I jumped at the opportunity because not only do I think Leon Castner and Brian Kathenes are brilliant appraisers, but they are incredibly fun! They asked me to speak about some “weird and cool” items L&L has appraised. We run into so many items that meet that criteria it was hard to come up with just one.

We are currently managing an enormous and very important collection of Napoleona for a client and much of it will be offered in

the upcoming Leslie Hindman Auctioneers French and Continental Auction on February 10th. We are so honored to be connected with such an incredible and eclectic collection as this! We appraised everything from magnificent bronze sculptures, miniature hand painted ivory portraits, Sevres urns, automaton bird cages and bird boxes to alleged strands of Napoleon’s hair! During the show I spoke specifically about a

most unique piece in the collection, a gold mourning ring that has a secret latch. When the latch is released, the top opens revealing a hollow compartment with a tiny golden Napoleon figure which pops up! It is amazing!!
